Leidos presents STEM scholarship at Surface Navy’s annual Anchor Scholarship Award ceremony
(Reston, Va.) October 11, 2022 – Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a FORTUNE® 500 science and technology leader, today announced the recipient of this year’s Rear Admiral Lillian Fishburne STEM Scholarship. The annual award was presented to Conor Yuengert of Portsmouth, RI as part of the Surface Navy’s Anchor Scholarship program.
“This program helps identify and nurture up-and-coming technical talent while demonstrating our commitment to helping build the STEM workforce of the future,” said retired Rear Admiral Nevin Carr, Leidos vice president and Navy strategic account executive. “Leidos has a long history of supporting the critical missions of the U.S. Navy and will continue to develop the critical talent needed to solve the complex challenges of today and tomorrow.”
Conor is currently a junior at the University of California San Diego where he is majoring in human biology with a minor in psychology. He currently works as an EMT and plans to attend medical school after graduation.
The Anchor Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships to eligible family members of active duty, retired, honorably discharged or deceased Surface Navy personnel. Recipients (both children and spouses) are selected on the basis of academic performance, character, extracurricular activities and financial needs.
Leidos renamed the annual scholarship earlier this year to honor Lillian Fishburne – a leader in the IT community, and the Navy’s first black woman to achieve the rank of Rear Admiral.
