For the fifth consecutive year, Leidos is No. 1 on the Washington Technology Top 100, an annual ranking of the largest government contractors in the federal market.

Leidos topped the list with $9.7 billion in prime contract obligations in 2022.

Why you should know: Now in its 30th running, it’s the most trusted and longest-running list of its kind that stacks up technology companies in the government contracting space.

Methodology: “Our annual rankings are based on an analysis of federal spending on IT, systems integration, telecommunications, professional services and other high-tech needs,” according to the list’s publishers.

Leidos first appeared at No. 1 in 2017 after acquiring Lockheed Martin’s former Information Systems and Global Solutions (IS&GS) business. The company reclaimed the top spot in 2019 and hasn’t looked back.

From the sources:

  • “The breadth and depth of technology, expertise and knowledge at this company are remarkable,” Leidos CEO Tom Bell wrote in a message to all 45,000 Leidos employees this week. “Innovation is a key bright spot for this company. The technological advances we are pursuing and the innovative mindset that is pervasive on our teams are truly impressive. It’s clear that the work done at Leidos is critical to the customers we serve.”
  • “What stands out to me about this company is the breadth of our portfolio, the complexity of the challenges we tackle, and the array of innovative solutions that we pioneer,” says Leidos CTO Jim Carlini. “From rapid delivery of advanced space payloads, to deploying solutions leveraging emerging Generative AI models, to keeping information safe in a cyber-vulnerable world, and equipping the U.S. and its allies for great power competition, we remain the pre-eminent solution provider at the nexus of global customer challenges and advanced technology.”

It's the latest in a recent series of high-profile recognitions for Leidos, which earlier this year was named one of the Best Companies to Work For by U.S. News, one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Institute for the sixth consecutive year, one of America’s Best Employers for Diversity by Forbes, one of the World’s Most Admired Companies by Fortune and one of America’s Best Large Employers by Forbes.
