Leidos innovates solutions to build the dynamic transportation system of the future
Leidos is leading the way to a safer, more efficient transportation system
The Leidos surface transportation portfolio plays a leading role in supporting innovative Federal research to advance state-of-the-art technologies, tools, and practices that will increase safety, mobility, and efficiency in the dynamic transportation system of the future.
In the revolutionary arena of Cooperative Driving Automation (CDA), Leidos is breaking boundaries by pioneering efforts in CARMA Cooperative Perception (CP), a feature of the CARMA Ecosystem that allows entities to share locally perceived data. CP research is expanding horizons in connected vehicle communications by extending the “line of sight” of individual connected and automated vehicles (CAV).
In an effort to develop the Integrated Work Zone (WZ) Mapping Toolset, Leidos researchers conceptualized a proof-of-concept to demonstrate a rapid, cost-effective method for capturing high-accuracy WZ data that digitally describe WZ configurations. Using advanced data capture and analysis expertise, researchers will one day enable CAVs to gather and share real-time information on dynamic WZ travel paths, helping vehicles navigate these environments safely.
To educate the workforce for the fast-approaching technological revolution, Leidos developed the Connected and Automated Vehicle education (CAVe)-in-a-box tool. This set of intelligent transportation system (ITS) components and instructions will enable students with minimal technical skills to understand, develop, test, and deploy CAV applications.
Leidos staff are thought leaders in the fields of transportation operations, safety, and research and development, exploring advanced ideas and applications. Leveraging our peer network throughout academia, industry, consulting, and public agencies, Leidos is advancing the development, adoption, and deployment of disruptive technologies that will reinvigorate our Nation’s transportation system.
