Leidos appoints Josh Salmanson to lead the defensive cyber practice
RESTON, Va. (April 23, 2025) – Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) has hired Josh Salmanson as vice president for its defensive cyber practice, where he will work to drive the company's defensive cyber solutions vision forward, helping to protect customer missions at every level, from enterprise systems to deployed units.
In the face of ever-evolving cyber threats, Salmanson’s role underscores Leidos’ commitment to delivering solutions that harden federal agencies’ cyber readiness through automation, speed and scalability.

With more than 30 years of experience in technology, cybersecurity and business leadership, Salmanson brings a deep understanding of mission-critical systems and solutions at both national and global scales. Prior to joining Leidos, he held executive leadership roles at Telos, ECS, NCI, Parsons and Lockheed Martin, where he was instrumental in driving cybersecurity innovations and strategic growth. His extensive background spans the federal information technology spectrum, supporting civilian, defense and intelligence community customers.
As head of the defensive cyber practice, Salmanson will focus on leveraging Leidos’ existing full-spectrum cyber capabilities and aligning them within the core functions of defensive cyber operations: identify, protect, detect, respond and recover. His team will work to standardize and accelerate the delivery of repeatable, high-value solutions that enhance cyber defense postures across government and commercial sectors.
Salmanson is an active member of Concurrent Technology Corporation’s technical advisory board and Whamtech Corporation’s board and holds a boardroom-certified Qualified Technical Expert designation from the Digital Directors Network. His leadership in cyber threat intelligence, strategic risk management and operational resilience positions him to make a significant impact in advancing Leidos’ cyber defense capabilities.
