In a prestigious recognition of his outstanding contributions to the military as well as recognition of his role within Leidos as the focal point for commercial logistic support to the MOD, Cameron Macnish, Head of Operations for the Logistics, Commodities and Services Programme in the UK, has been appointed by His Majesty the King as the Honorary Colonel of 162 Regiment of the Royal Logistic Corps.

The appointment as an Honorary Colonel is a significant milestone for Cameron, as it brings with it the responsibility to foster esprit-de-corps and exhibit a genuine interest in the Unit to which he is appointed. As an Honorary Colonel, Cameron is entrusted with representing the Unit to civilian and military community stakeholders while serving as a figurehead within the Unit.

According to military protocol, the Honorary Colonel acts as a quasi-Non-Executive Director to the Commanding Officer. This role involves providing advice as needed and offering a second set of eyes without interfering in the day-to-day operations of the Unit. Drawing on his experience as a former Commanding Officer of a Reserve RLC regiment, specifically 152 (Ulster) Transport Regiment RLC(V), Cameron is well-versed in both issues affecting reserve logistic regiments and the responsibilities that come with this honorary position.

As the Head of Operations for Team Leidos, Cameron brings intimate and current knowledge of the Army's operational and large-scale exercise deployments, both ongoing and planned. This role positions him strategically to advance the interests of 162 Regiment while maintaining a keen interest in the Regiment's activities.

Cameron's background as a former Commanding Officer of an RLC Reserve Regiment and his current role supporting Defence Supply Chain Operations & Movements (DSCOM), leading an embedded Leidos team within DSCOM, make him uniquely qualified for the role. Managing a team responsible for overseeing Team Leidos' logistic support to all military operations in the UK and globally, he is committed to ensuring that Leidos' dedication to the Ministry of Defence, particularly, in respect of 162 Regiment, to the Army, is underscored by his personal commitment.

Simon Hutchings, VP Logistics and Mission Support, commented: I am delighted that His Majesty The King has bestowed this honour on one of our Leidos colleagues. This is a win-win all around. Cameron brings unique insights from his time working at the industry/military interface, his time as a Reservist CO, and his intermate knowledge of support current operations at the coal face will enable him to add enormous value in guiding and nurturing the unit to be the best it can be.

Mark Rowlands, Director of Operations LCST, commented: "After a successful career in the Royal Logistic Corps, Cameron has continued providing logistic support to UK military personnel as Team Leidos Head of Operations. His detailed knowledge of the end-to-end Defence supply chain, coupled with his outstanding loyalty to the Corps, make him an ideal fit for such an important role. He will be a great asset to 162 Regiment, as he is to Leidos.” The appointment marks not only a personal achievement for Cameron but also a testament to his commitment to enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of the Royal Logistic Corps.
