Flourishing in Florida
How often do you think about electric power delivery? For people like Nasheet Arman, MSEE, PE, the answer is “most of the time.” His passion for electrical transmission and distribution systems (and a warm climate) made an opportunity with Leidos in Florida a perfect fit. Leidos is an established provider of power delivery services to some of the largest electrical utilities in the state.
In three years with Leidos as a protection and control engineer, Arman has flourished personally and professionally. "My work prior to Leidos required being onsite at international locations frequently. With Leidos, my focus is exclusively on Florida utilities and my work-life balance is excellent. I still travel to sites but it's much easier. I've gained expertise on state standards and policies that impact my work, and can relate to local communities that are project stakeholders. One of the most rewarding aspects of being in Florida is that I can drive around and point out projects that I work on!"
He adds that the culture in the Leidos Orlando office is unrivaled. "From junior engineers to seasoned industry experts, the focus on collaboration, mentorship, and team building is energizing. This naturally drives a positive experience in our interactions with clients, vendors, and other firms."
Since joining Leidos, Arman has emerged as a standout collaborator with the firm’s Florida utility clients. As one of the primary points of contact with our utility customers, he leverages technical expertise to translate business requirements into robust, economical engineering specifications and solutions. He leans on insights gleaned from years of field experience at high voltage substations and both transmission and distribution systems to help utilities envision opportunities beyond the task at hand that can future-proof assets and make a positive impact on end users.
Arman puts a premium on building solid relationships with project stakeholders to drive successful execution. "I've learned that communication and transparency are vital to project success. I am constantly in touch with my clients and all project partners. This keeps everyone on the same page and helps minimize surprises."
Arman attributes much of his career progression to support from his colleagues. The firm’s 250 power delivery team members in Florida include industry experts covering all aspects of the electrical power utility industry. "The principal engineers have shaped my understanding and perspective around technical, operational, regulatory, and business challenges unique to Florida, which has elevated me professionally. Ongoing access to these experts helps me respond to clients and keep delivery teams on point with work execution."
He notes that the spirit of mentorship is contagious at Leidos, and career growth is a core value. Team members at all levels and disciplines are encouraged to progress or diversify their careers. Arman encourages engineers seeking new challenges to join the growing Leidos power delivery team in Florida and meet amazing new people, work on state-of-the-art solutions for Florida utilities, and open doors to opportunity.
