Ethisphere Institute names Leidos one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for second consecutive year
Company recognized for commitment to prioritizing a culture of ethics and integrity
(Reston, Va.) February 26, 2019 – Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a FORTUNE 500® science, information technology, and engineering leader, today announced that it has been named as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies® by the Ethisphere Institute for the second consecutive year. The annual designation recognizes companies who influence and drive positive change in the business community and societies around the world.
Ethisphere is the global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices. This year the institute named 128 companies spanning 21 countries with the honor.
“Ethics and compliance is an integral component of our business – it is the foundation of everything we do,” said Leidos Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Roger Krone. “Being named one of the World's Most Ethical Companies for the second consecutive year is an honor, one that highlights the ethical practices of our exemplary employees who work hard each day to drive positive change through their ethical behavior and leadership.”
“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Leidos this month, we recognize that our company’s success is built on a rich history of ethics and an environment where acting with integrity is the responsibility of every employee,” added Leidos Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer Michele Brown. “We are incredibly proud that Ethisphere again recognized Leidos for maintaining a strong culture of ethics and integrity for our 32,000 global employees.”
The World's Most Ethical Companies assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient® framework, which offers a quantitative way to assess a company’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized manner. The information collected provides a comprehensive sampling of definitive criteria of core competencies rather than all aspects of corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance and ethics. Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35 percent), culture of ethics (20 percent), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20 percent), governance (15 percent) and leadership and reputation (10 percent).
“Today, employees, investors and stakeholders are putting their greatest trust in companies to take leadership on societal issues. Companies that take the long view with a purpose-based strategy are proven to not only outperform but last,” said Ethisphere’s Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Erblich. “I congratulate everyone at Leidos for earning this recognition.”
