Celebrate Pride Month with Leidos
Pride Month was forged out of resilience and courage in the face of adversity. As we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community let us also us recognize and rejoice in the powerful impact LGBTQ+ individuals have at Leidos, in our communities, and around the world.
June marks LGBTQ+ Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall Uprising in June 1969 and the first Pride March in 1970. In June 1999, President Clinton issued a proclamation that June was LGBTQ+ Pride Month. The Stonewall Inn was declared a national historical landmark in March 2000 and was cited as the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ civil rights movement.
At Leidos, inclusion is more than just a word in a list of adjectives that we use to describe our company culture, but a key part of our Environmental, Social, Governance strategy and one of our overall core values. Inclusion is a journey to create an environment where employees can bring their whole selves to work.
We believe inclusion and diversity are not just problems to solve, rather an enduring commitment to the pursuit of respect, belonging, and trust. There is no intention of being done. As we build an inclusive culture, together we will accomplish extraordinary things, shaping the future of innovation at Leidos – and the world – for the better.
The month of June is an opportunity for you to be intentional in ways you demonstrate inclusivity:
- Explore the history of the LGBTQ+ community even prior to the Stonewall Uprising
- Understand the importance of personal pronouns
- Volunteer for or donate to an LGBTQ+ organization in your area
- Read books by LGBTQ+ writers and support LGBTQ+ creators
As millions of people across our nation and the world celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with events like parades, 5K runs, and concerts, let’s create truly safe, inclusive spaces and celebrate LGBTQ+ lives and families, in all the unique ways they present every day.
Inclusion is all of us. Everyone, Every Day.
