CDP recognizes Leidos for its environmental transparency efforts
Leidos has again been recognized by global environmental non-profit CDP, for its corporate sustainability and emissions management efforts. The company was recently awarded a “B” score for its commitment to transparency and governance around climate change, ranking above the sector (IT & software development) average and exceeding the North American regional average. Leidos has disclosed through CDP since 2015.
“As stewards of the environment, we seek to advance environmental sustainability by doing our part to preserve natural resources, reduce emissions, and limit waste,” said Roger Krone, Leidos Chairman and CEO. “We are pleased CDP recognized our ongoing efforts to manage environmental risk, including cutting our emissions by more than 58% relative to our 2010 baseline. This along with maintaining robust governance and oversight is an important part of our ongoing efforts to tackle climate issues.”
CDP’s annual disclosure and scoring process is a widely recognized measure of strong corporate environmental transparency and performance. In 2021, over 13,000 companies worth more than 64% of global market capitalization disclosed through CDP. By disclosing, companies are prepared to handle the increasing demand for environmental transparency from investors, customers, and policymakers.
“Climate change poses a present and future risk to companies and their supply chains. Only by measuring environmental risks and opportunities can companies manage them now, prepare for the future and remain competitive – especially as large mainstream investors and federal policymakers increasingly push for greater transparency through disclosure,” said Simon Fischweicher, Head of Corporations and Supply Chains at CDP North America. “By disclosing their environmental impact through CDP, Leidos has taken an important first step.”
In November, Leidos announced Next Level Leidos, the company's new environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals for 2030. Next Level Leidos introduces new sustainability focus areas and metrics aimed at positively impacting both people and the planet.
