Project HOPE
After nearly six months since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, millions of people across the embattled nation will observe their Independence Day on Wednesday, Aug. 24. Leidos remains committed to the people of Ukraine and is motivated to do our part to help those who are impacted by the ongoing conflict.
Recently, Rabih Torbay, President and CEO of Project HOPE sat down with Roger Krone, Chairman and CEO of Leidos to discuss some of Project HOPE’s ongoing work in Ukraine and around the world. Watch the video below to learn more about Project HOPE’s current efforts in Ukraine and how they plan to stay involved for the long term.
In the last 6 months, more than
12 million people
in Ukraine have left their homes
In the last 6 months, more than 12 million people in Ukraine have left their homes according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. About half these people have left for other parts of Europe, and half are seeking safety and shelter in another part of Ukraine. This amounts to about 30% of Ukraine’s prewar population having left their homes. These individuals need housing, medical treatment, access to education and other services. They have lost infrastructure that will take lifetimes to replace.
One way that Leidos has supported the people of Ukraine is through donations to Project HOPE. For more than 60 years, Project HOPE has transformed the health and well-being of people and communities around the world.
Project HOPE works on the front lines of the world’s health challenges, partnering with communities, health care workers and public health systems to ensure sustainable change. Leidos’ donations to Project HOPE help provide aid to those in Ukraine by mobilizing its emergency teams to send medical supplies and provide health screening and care for refugees.
